Workshop 2: Properties & Applications of MXenes
The workshop focuses on the synthesis, properties and applications of two-dimensional (2D) materials known as MXene. These layered transition metal nitrides, carbonitrides, and carbides provide a new playground for developing inorganic 2D materials with versatile structural and chemical characteristics due to the variety of elemental compositions and surface terminations. In addition to their fundamental properties, the workshop will cover the energy-related applications as well as electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding, blends and composites, sensors, organic light-emitting diodes (OLED), actuators and biomedical applications of MXenes and MXene-based materials. |

Workshop 7: Advanced Characterization of 2DM and heterostructures
The workshop focuses on recent advances and challenges in the characterization of 2D materials, van der Waals architectures and 2D material-based devices. Properties and phenomena investigated at the mesoscopic, nano and atomic scales using diverse advanced techniques will be covered, e.g. growth, defects, chemical functionalization, heterojunctions, charge transfer and dynamics, light emission, device operation. The scope will include a wide range of characterization methods that are critical for the study of 2D materials, such as microscopy, spectroscopy and transport / photo-transport measurements. The workshop will also address multimodal/multidimensional approaches that allow a simultaneous acquisition of several information channels (e.g. structural/chemical, structural/opto-electronic…), in-situ manipulations, time-resolved measurements and operando characterization. |

Workshop 8: Ferroelectrics & Piezoelectric 2DM
Two-dimensional (2D) ferroelectric materials are promising for use in high-performance nanoelectronic devices due to the non-volatility, high storage density, low energy cost and short response time originating from their bistable and switchable polarization states. This workshop will address the emerging field of nanoferroelectricity which is driven by the discovery of new 2D material exhibiting remarkable ferroelectric properties which could impact on a large body of phenomena ranging from Moiré ferroelectric, ferroelectric photovoltaics and piezoelectric/pyroelectric effects or ferroelectric MRAM. |

Workshop 10: 2D water and nanofluidics
The importance of water to life is self-evident, but much remains unknown at the nanoscale. This workshop encompasses physics and chemistry of 2D nano-confined water (theory and experiment): its anomalous properties; kinetic phenomena and ionic transport in 2D nano-capillaries (both atomically precise void between van der Waal materials and few-Angstrom-wide capillaries made other solids or soft materials); hydrogen transport; osmotic energy harvesting, and any other emerging applications.
